To add a watermark to an image, type your text, choose size, color, opacity, and position, and download the result. Tile repeats the text across the whole picture. It runs in your browser, so your photo isn't uploaded.
Why watermark a photo?
- Photographers and designers mark previews before a client pays.
- Bloggers and creators keep a credit on pictures that get reposted.
- Businesses label sample images.
- Anyone who shares work publicly and wants a credit line attached.
How to add a watermark to an image
- Click Select File, or drag your image into the drop zone.
- Type the Watermark text, such as your name, a copyright line, or your web address. Set the size, opacity, and color.
- Pick a position, or choose Tile. Then click Download. The button turns on once you've typed some text.
Choosing a position and opacity
A corner mark is subtle but can be cropped out. Tile repeats the text diagonally across the whole picture, which is much harder to remove without cutting into the photo. Around 30 to 50 percent opacity stays easy to read without covering the subject.
A watermark discourages reuse but can't stop someone determined. This tool does text only, not logos. For a logo overlay, use a design tool.

What makes a good watermark
Keep the text short, like your name or a web address, and add the year if you like. Place it over a busy part of the picture, where it's harder to clean up, but away from faces and the main subject. Use Tile for previews you want to protect.
White text at 30 to 50 percent opacity works on most photos. On a bright image, try a dark color instead.
Frequently asked questions
How do I put my name on a photo?
Type your name as the watermark text, choose a position and opacity, and download the picture. It's free and there's nothing to install.
Which position is hardest to remove?
Tile. It repeats across the whole image, so it can't be cropped away like a corner mark.
How visible should a watermark be?
Around 30 to 50 percent opacity is common. It's clear enough to read and doesn't ruin the photo.
Can I use a logo instead of text?
No. This tool adds text watermarks only.
Will it change the format?
PNG and WebP stay as they are, and other images are saved as JPG.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The watermark is drawn in your browser and the photo stays on your device.
