About FreeToConvert
FreeToConvert is a set of free tools for everyday image and PDF jobs. You should be able to convert a file without installing software, creating an account, or sending a personal document to someone else's server. So we built every tool to run inside your browser.
Who is behind this site
FreeToConvert is built and maintained by Ardnat, who also writes the guides on the blog. Every tool and every article is checked against what the tool really does, including where it falls short.
How it works
When you merge a PDF, compress a photo, or convert a PNG to JPG, your browser does the work on your own device. The file is not uploaded, and there is no copy of it on our side. Close the tab and it is gone. There is more detail in our privacy policy.
Because nothing is uploaded, there is nothing for us to limit. We do not cap file sizes or the number of files you can convert, and we do not add watermarks. The practical limit is your device's memory, so a very large PDF can be slow on an older phone.
What you can do here
- PDF documents: merge, split, rotate, reorder, compress, unlock, add page numbers or a watermark, extract text and images, convert pages to JPG or PNG, and edit a PDF's metadata.
- Image converter: switch between JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, HEIC, TIFF, BMP, and SVG, and turn images into PDFs.
- Image editor: compress, resize, crop, rotate, flip, blur, remove EXIF data, add a watermark or meme text, and pull a color palette from a picture.
What we do not do
Running in the browser has limits. We do not offer OCR for scanned documents, PDF to Word conversion, or an API for automation. If you need those, a paid or server-based tool is the better fit, and our guide on free vs paid converters explains when.
