To merge PDF files, add them to the list, put them in the order you want, and click Merge. You get one combined PDF. Your files stay on your device the whole time, and there's no watermark, account, or file limit.
When do you need to merge PDF files?
Most people land here with a pile of separate files that really belong together.
- A contract, an ID scan, and a cover letter that a form wants as a single attachment.
- Scanned pages that came off the scanner as separate files.
- Chapters or reports from different people that need to go out as one document.
- Receipts and invoices for one expense report.
- A resume and a reference letter for one job application.
How to merge PDF files
- Click Select Files, or drag two or more PDFs into the drop zone.
- Check the order in the list and use the arrow buttons to move a file up or down. The list order becomes the page order.
- Click Merge PDF, then Download to save the combined file.
What this tool does, and what it doesn't
Your browser copies every page from each file into a new document, in the order you set. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable and images are not recompressed. Because nothing is uploaded, there's no server limit on file size or on how many files you can combine. The real limit is your device's memory, so a very large batch can be slow on an older phone.
It merges PDFs only. To add photos, turn them into a PDF first with JPG to PDF or Image to PDF.
Fixing common merge problems
- The merged file is too big. The output is about the sum of the files you put in. Shrink it afterward with Compress PDF.
- Pages ended up in the wrong order. Run the merged file through Reorder PDF Pages, or merge again with the list rearranged.
- One file will not load. It may be damaged, or protected with a password. If it only has printing or copying limits, try Unlock PDF first.
- One file is sideways. Fix it with Rotate PDF before you merge.
Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to merge PDF files online?
With this tool, yes, because nothing is uploaded. Your browser does the merging on your own device, so contracts and ID scans never reach a server. You can check by watching the Network tab in your browser's developer tools while you merge.
How many PDFs can I merge at once?
There's no set limit. The practical limit is your device's memory. Dozens of normal files are fine on a laptop, while a stack of very large scans can run slowly on a phone.
Can I merge PDFs on a Mac, iPhone, or Android phone?
Yes. It runs in Safari, Chrome, Edge, and Firefox on Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, and Android. There's nothing to install.
Will merging change how my pages look?
No. Each page is copied as it is, so fonts, layout, and images stay the same, and text you could select before is still selectable.
Can I merge a PDF with a JPG or PNG?
Not directly. Turn the image into a PDF first with JPG to PDF or PNG to PDF, then merge everything here.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
Not if they need a password just to open. If a file only blocks printing or copying, Unlock PDF can remove those limits first.
